What's a House?
The House System at Lynnhaven School exists to support and promote student engagement through community building, school traditions and programming, and academic advising to ensure a vibrant and engaged community that enhances the student experience. Through a warm and welcoming environment, the house system develops students while they grow in themselves and develop key relationships with other Lynnhaven students, faculty, and staff.
Forge the Relationships (Building Community) - Lynnhaven School believes that when students engage in school roles and experiences outside of the classroom, they are able to develop greater self-knowledge of their talents and strengths as well as improve their interpersonal competence. Students are provided with opportunities for team building and community building through house challenges and weekly discussions.
Make the Memories (Traditions and Programming) School traditions and programming play an important role in supporting student engagement and ensuring a vibrant campus community. The house system works to ensure that all students are aware and involved in campus traditions such as costume contests for Halloween, spirit week, and more. Lynnhaven traditions become a part of a student’s overall experience, thus providing them with cherished life-long memories.
Learn the Lessons (Advising) - In most institutions of education, faculty members are required to assume the role of an advisor. Our goal is to keep a close watch on our students both socially and emotionally as well as academically. The house system provides personalized attention and early intervention that enhances lifelong learning and nurtures a student’s responsibility and integrity.
