Dr. Casey HitchcockHead of School - Chief of Staff Dr. Hitchcock began her tenure at Lynnhaven during the 2017-2018 school year as an English Teacher. Within a few months, she was promoted to Head of Middle School due to exemplary leadership. She immediately catapulted herself into the academic culture of the school by chairing the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and AdvancEd Accreditation Team in the Spring of 2018. Dr. Hitchcock shares the vision and ideals of Lynnhaven as demonstrated by her tireless effort to unlock the potential of each student.

Dr. Johnathan HarrisHead of School - Chief of Advancement Dr. Harris founded Lynnhaven School in 2012 due to the mounting frustration he faced as a teacher and administrator in the public school system. A strong advocate for parents desiring a first rate education for their children, he grew weary of an educational structure in which teachers were not empowered to foster environments of independent and creative learning experiences for each of their students.
As an educator, Dr. Harris challenged the status quo of this structure and questioned the lack of personal attention that allowed students to reach their personal bests. With these experiences and principles at the forefront, Lynnhaven was born. Click here for Full Bio |
Mrs. Alyson LeMasterDirector of Admission and College Counseling Mrs. LeMaster has over a decade of combined higher education and private school admissions leadership experience. She is an alumnus of Radford University having earned a Bachelor of Science in Sociology. She completed graduate work and received a Master of Science in Community and College Counseling from Longwood University. Mrs. LeMaster leads all admission and college counseling initiatives at Lynnhaven. She is a strong believer that education comes in all forms, which is in step with our school’s founding principles and values.

Mrs. LaShanda MelendezDirector of Teaching and Learning Mrs. Melendez's career spans 20 years in a range of positions including gifted education, Middle School Science, Spanish, partial Spanish immersion, Middle School Math, and World Geography. She has taught in Newport News, Richmond, and Henrico public schools and at a private school in Newport News.
Mrs. Melendez earned her Bachelor's Degree in History from Christopher Newport University. She received a collegiate professional license from the Virginia Department of Education with endorsements in Elementary Education PreK-6, English as a Second Language K-12, and Gifted Education K-12. Mrs. Melendez ensures the curriculum of Lynnhaven is mission-aligned and that the delivery method is effective. As a life long learner, Ms. Melendez is currently pursuing a Master of Education with an Emphasis in Curriculum and Development at the University of Virginia. |
Ms. Robin ThomasDirector of Finance and Operations Ms. Thomas has over 20 years of experience working in leadership positions at independent schools. She is an alumnus of New Hampshire University where she earned a Bachelors Degree in Business Management. Ms. Thomas continued her education and completed graduate studies where she earned a Masters in Business Administration from Virginia Wesleyan University. Mrs. Thomas is also a veteran of the United States Air Force. She worked as an Air Craft Maintenance Technician and Crew Chief while working on fighter planes. Ms. Thomas leads the school in human resources, finance, and business operations.
