Henrico, VA - Lynnhaven School has been honored with the Tree Campus K-12 recognition by the Arbor Day Foundation for its dedication to tree-focused education during the 2023/2024 school year. The Tree Campus K-12 program encourages schools to create meaningful opportunities for students to engage with trees, fostering a lifelong respect for the environment. Lynnhaven School met four key goals to earn this recognition, including maintaining a dedicated Tree Campus team, implementing an educational plan connecting students to the global benefits of trees, offering hands-on experiences, and celebrating Arbor Day. “We want to inspire young people to develop a lifelong respect for trees and understand the many benefits green spaces bring to communities,” said Dan Lambe, chief executive of the Arbor Day Foundation. “Lynnhaven is playing a key role in the effort to usher in a new generation of environmental stewards.” The Arbor Day Foundation, the largest nonprofit membership organization dedicated to planting trees, also recognizes efforts through programs like Tree City USA and Tree Campus Higher Education. "We're proud to play a role in nurturing the next generation of environmental stewards," said Dr. Hitchcock, Head of School at Lynnhaven School. "This recognition reflects our commitment to environmental education and the importance of green spaces in our community."
