The Board welcomes Jodi Gray

Lynnhaven School Board of Trustees is pleased to welcome Jodi Gray as a newly appointed trustee at large. With a wealth of experience in nonprofit development and a deep commitment to education, Jodi brings invaluable expertise to Lynnhaven during this pivotal time of growth and transition.

Jodi holds a bachelor of arts in English, a master’s degree in public administration, and a fundraising & development certificate from the Institute on Philanthropy at the University of Richmond’s School of Professional & Continuing Studies. Over the past 20+ years, she has worked extensively in nonprofit development, supporting some of the region’s most notable organizations, including the Richmond Symphony, SPARC, VCUarts, and the University of Richmond.

Beyond her direct work in nonprofit leadership, Jodi has also provided consulting expertise for organizations such as Fable Branding & Advertising, Seven Hills School, and Regency Dance Academy. Her passion for philanthropy, education, and the arts has been the driving force behind her career, making her a valuable addition to Lynnhaven’s leadership team.

Jodi is not only an advocate for community engagement but also a dedicated parent. Her son is a junior at Lynnhaven, and her daughter is a 7th grader at Sabot School. She considers her greatest development project to be raising her children with the same dedication and passion she brings to her professional endeavors.

As a trustee at large, Jodi will play a vital role in supporting the Board’s strategic vision, helping Lynnhaven strengthen its financial sustainability, expand its community outreach, and uphold the school’s mission. We are thrilled to have her on board and look forward to the positive impact she will bring to our Lynnhaven community.

Steadfast Leadership: Ms. Carter to Serve as Interim Head of School for 2025-2026 School Year

The Board of Trustees is proud to officially announce that Ms. Carter will serve as the Interim Head of School for the 2025-2026 school year. We are incredibly grateful for her continued leadership and dedication to our school community. Ms. Carter had originally planned to retire at the end of this year, but in a remarkable show of commitment, she has made the decision to stay with us as we move into what promises to be the best school year yet. Her deep understanding of our mission, unwavering passion for student success, and steady leadership will ensure a seamless transition as we continue to grow and thrive. Sara Marsden returns to board of trustees

Sara Marsden has a long history with Lynnhaven School both personally and professionally. Sara is a two-time parent whose children both started in elementary school, Gwen ‘22 and Nathan ‘24, and mother-in-law of the first ever student, Rob. She has served the school as a marketing and branding consultant, graphic designer (including the Lynnhaven School logo), and as a former Board member. Professionally, Sara is a 20+ year marketing & communications professional, graphic designer, copywriter, and brand strategist who is passionate about helping businesses and nonprofit organizations connect with their customers and communities in meaningful ways that inspire action. She enthusiastically approaches challenges and finds creative solutions to help organizations meet their goals. Sara holds a BA in Political Science with a minor in English. For the last 20+ years she has led the marketing departments in several nonprofits including Virginia Repertory Theatre and SPARC, served on the board of 5th Wall Theatre and Lynnhaven School, helped to rebrand Seven Hills School, and worked with numerous marketing/branding clients at Fable Branding. She recently co-wrote, edited, and designed the book Mending Walls.

Town Hall Rescheduled – Dinner Provided!

Dear Lynnhaven Families, We wanted to let you know that our Town Hall Meeting has been rescheduled for tomorrow. To make it easier for families to attend, the Board of Trustees will be providing a pasta and salad dinner for everyone. Dinner will be available starting at 5:00 PM – perfect for those who can get off work a little early and want to eat before the meeting. If you're arriving later, feel free to fix a plate and bring it with you to the town hall. We’ll begin the meeting around 6:00 – 6:15 PM, and we look forward to seeing everyone there. Welcome to the first edition of The Board Minute! We’re excited to share updates from the Board of Trustees. Many of you have already expressed interest in volunteering your time to support Lynnhaven, and we truly appreciate it. If you’d like to be more involved, we encourage you to complete the form on the Board of Trustees page to express your interest in serving. Looking for a lighter commitment? Consider applying for an At-Large Trustee position—an excellent way to contribute without the full responsibilities of a board member. Important Updates The Town Hall has been postpone due to inclement weather, we will be rescheduling the Town Hall this week or early next. Stay tuned for more details! Celebrating Ms. Carter We are thrilled to support Ms. Carter in her new role as Interim Head of School. She is balancing both teaching and leading, and we are grateful for her dedication to our students and staff. We Need a Long-Term Substitute Lynnhaven is currently seeking a Long-Term Substitute for Science and Math. If you or someone you know may be interested, please reach out to Ms. Carter. Hiring a Summer Camp Director We are also looking for a Summer Camp Director to begin after Spring Break in April. If you're passionate about working with students over the summer, we'd love to hear from you! A Big Thank You! We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of our community.
