The Jennifer Lynn Harris Community Impact Scholarship Fund
Lynnhaven School was founded in 2010 by Dr. Johnathan Harris, but his journey began decades before in rural southwest Virginia, where he, the youngest of five children, felt the tug of the great outdoors more than the confines of a classroom. His heart yearned for the freedom of his farm, the excitement of baseball games, and the fascination of the "animal hospital" where his late mother had once worked. He wasn't alone in this sentiment; his sister, Jennifer, shared the same desire for a different kind of educational experience.
While Dr. Harris was in college, preparing to be a teacher, Jennifer passed away after years of health complications. Dr. Harris knew he wanted to honor the legacy of his sister when he made the decision to start Lynnhaven. "Lynn" in memory of his sister, Jennifer Lynn Harris, and "Haven" represent the safe place of refuge they always wished school could be. He wanted her light to keep shining and her dedication to service, community, and family to live on.
The goal of this scholarship fund is to celebrate and financially reward students by way of a scholarship, who is doing good in the community. Lynnhaven has a goal of raising enough funds to create an endowment so that this scholarship lives Forever.
