Building Character

Mission Statement

Lynnhaven School provides an independent and creative learning environment built on principles of excellence and compassion. Each and every student is expected to pursue successes, to celebrate victories, and to learn from defeats. It is through self-reliance, integrity, and humor, that our students embrace and balance the freedom to be, with the responsibility to do.

Vision Statement

The world will be changed for the better by those who attend Lynnhaven School.

Our Values

At Lynnhaven, we value the JOY in learning and discovery. We seek to move beyond the status quo,
improving ourselves and our communities, and we celebrate PROGRESS in our efforts. By embracing the DIVERSITY of the human experience with RESPECT and COMPASSION, we cultivate a culture of TRUST where students can take the necessary risks required for real, authentic learning. It is the compass of our INTEGRITY that guides us through those challenges.

Who We Seek

At Lynnhaven, we look for driven, creative students who want to and can take advantage of student’s intellectual freedom and autonomy in the classroom and across their school experience. Lynnhaven teachers describe their most successful students as those with an appetite for learning, eager to seize responsibility for their education, and are team players. Lynnhaven works best for learners excited by their own curiosity and who take ownership in their learning. Lynnhaven students regularly devise questions, challenge assumptions, and propose new directions to pursue. These higher-order thinking skills create flexible thinkers and problem solvers ready to tackle life in the 21st century's unknowns.
Lynnhaven School is accredited by the AdvancED Accreditation Commission, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, NCA Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement, & the Northwest Accreditation Commission. Lynnhaven is also an accredited member of the Virginia Council for Private Education and the National Association of Independent Schools.
