Spanish IList Item 1
Prerequisite: None
This first year of Spanish introduces the language and the diverse Spanish-speaking cultures worldwide. We will begin to build foundational skills in speaking, reading, basic writing, and listening using the Comprehensible Input method. Students acquire language by listening with the goal of understanding while participating in storytelling and story creation. All types of input are designed to be comprehensible for the student, enhancing proficiency and building confidence in the language.

Spanish IIList Item 2
In Spanish II, students will continue to build their foundations in speaking, reading, writing, and listening through the Comprehensive Input method. They will acquire the language by listening with the intent to understand, engaging in storytelling, and creating narratives. Input in all forms is designed to be comprehensible to students, enhancing their proficiency and fostering their confidence in the language.

Spanish IIIList Item 3
Students will continue acquiring the language through the Comprehensive Input method, primarily by listening for understanding and engaging in storytelling. Input in all forms is designed for student comprehension to enhance proficiency and expose them to a broad range of cultural topics from the Spanish-speaking world.

French IList Item 4
This introductory course focuses on building foundational skills in the French language and culture. Students will learn basic vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and conversational skills. Emphasis is placed on developing the ability to understand and produce simple spoken and written French. Cultural aspects of French speaking countries will also be introduced.

French II
Building on the skills acquired in French I, this course further develops students' proficiency in the French language and culture. Students will expand their vocabulary and grammar knowledge, engage in more complex conversations, and enhance their reading and writing abilities. Cultural exploration will dive deeper into the diversity of French-speaking communities.

French III
French III builds on the foundational grammar, vocabulary, and conversational skills developed in Levels I and II, with a greater emphasis on fluency, comprehension, and cultural literacy. Students deepen their ability to speak, read, write, and understand French through immersive activities, authentic texts, and thematic units that explore Francophone cultures around the world. Grammar instruction includes more complex verb tenses such as the passé composé vs. imparfait, future, and conditional. Through projects, presentations, and extended dialogues, students gain confidence in expressing themselves on a range of personal and global topics.
